Lieux (2010-2012)
Undoubtedly as a way of situating myself, I went to photograph places where significant events in the nation’s history had taken place, especially those connected to the two world wars. I didn’t photograph ruins or monuments, just the places, so one can’t really say where they are or what happened there. All one can do is guess. Removed from France’s patrimonial excesses, beyond the events concerned, ask the almost ontological question: what, ultimately, is a place?
